Self-care during the lockdown
How many days it’s been? Who is still counting? With most of us being isolated at home during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and with so many question marks regarding the future, it may be a really stressful period. Anxiety levels are up but is there something we can do about that? Self-care is the answer – and it’s not only related to beauty rituals (although this will be the focus of this post) but also what you eat, how often do you exercise and go for a walk, sleep and connect with your friends. Try to focus on all those aspects to maintain good
mental health and wellbeing in this difficult situation.
At J’adore bio we are all about good beauty routines! In this post we will share with you some tips on how to de-stress and show yourself some self-love at home.
Relaxing bath
“There must be quite a few things a hot bath won’t cure, but I don’t know many of them,” - Sylvia Plath
There is nothing more blissful than taking a warm bath after a stressful day. Did you know that science proved numerous health benefits of bathing for the brain, nervous & hormonal system?
We could all use to relax and be extra kind to ourselves right now – so make it special. Leave the phone outside your bathroom, put on your favourite relaxing music and add luxurious bath salt to make it a spa-like experience!
100% natural bath salts from Mirins Copenhagen are our favourite these days – they make the skin feel hydrated, ultra-soft and the bathroom smelling amazing! We give them extra points for those beautiful flower buds floating on the water… Recipe for the ultimate relaxing experience? Lighten up a soy candle and just enjoy the moment!
At-home facial
“If I’m going to cocoon, I better come out a butterfly” - Tova Diker
Your beauty salon is closed? Monthly facial treatments cancelled? Re-create your favourite facial at home – better yet, using all-natural cosmetics!
Step 1: Cleanse
Start by deeply cleansing your skin. Although you might have skipped make-up for couple of days (or weeks), your skin needs a good cleanse from dust, sebum, sweat and pollution. Wash them off using a facial soap dedicated to your skin type. Gentle, yet effective LIMA face soaps smell incredibly and are enriched with nourishing oils and detoxifying clays.
Step 2: Exfoliate
Now it’s time for exfoliation! Get rid of those dead skin cells to help generate new ones faster. You will feel like new! Choose between an enzyme scrub exfoliating thanks to fruit enzymes or mechanical scrub based on, for example, crushed argan nuts.
Step 3: Face mask
That’s the part we love the most - masking! Make it special during the lockdown, light up a candle, put on some relaxing music and choose a special face mask. Treat and indulge yourself – you deserve it! Our pick would be Flow Cosmetics face masks – Strawberry with hyaluronic acid or Lingonberry with fruit enzymes. Their packaging, formula and feeling on the skin makes masking ritual extra luxurious. Happy dance when you’re waiting to rinse off your mask is highly recommended!
Step 4: Moisturise
The last step would be to lock-in moisture either by using a face serum, cream or oil. Choose a good, antioxidants-packed serum and your skin will be grateful! We love the smell of the Rose & Raspberry Face Serum from Ministerstwo. This one is ideal for stressed out, tired skin!
Hand care
You may think it’s silly to mention hand soaps & hand creams in a post related to self-care rituals, but our hands need the love more than ever now! Excessive hand washing using antibacterial products and using alcohol-based sanitisers can make them dry and this can result in skin ageing, wrinkles and pigmentation.
Switch your soap to a gentle, natural & organic one & use a hand cream couple of times a day – you will see a huge difference!
