Hannah's Morning Skincare Routine
A morning skincare routine is a chance for you to reflect on the day ahead, take 5 minutes for yourself and enjoy the process of taking care of your skin.
I also know that for many of you, a morning skincare routine is all about how quickly you can get the products onto your face before you need to be out the door.
In this blog post I am going to take you through my morning skincare routine for combination skin. My skin is prone to hormonal acne so my main goal with my morning skincare routine is to treat & prevent those breakouts while tackling post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. As we are getting into the colder months, I also want to make sure my skin is adequately hydrated as this will keep my skin in balance and prevent an excess of oil production.

Step 1: Cleanser
Whether it is the height of summer or the depth of winter, a morning cleanse is always a must for me! It removes the build up of oils while restoring some hydration to the drier parts of my skin. In the summer I love a lightweight gel cleanser but now it’s getting colder, I prefer something a little more nourishing.
The evolve beauty cleansing balm can be used either as a first step of a double cleanse or it can be used as a stand-alone cleanser.
I love to use this natural cleansing balm as part of my morning & evening skincare routine. This water free cleansing balm uses deeply nourishing baobab oil to moisturize and repair the skin. This rich cleanser leaves my skin feeling cleansed but still hydrated & balanced, a winter skin must-have!
Step 2: Toner
This refreshing facial toning mist uses rose water, aloe vera & glycerin to restore hydration back into the skin while soothing redness & inflammation. With angry, red breakouts happily sitting on my skin, I like to use products in the morning that are going to help reduce the redness and calm them down!
Step 3: Serum
The most common question I am asked is, “what is a serum & do I need it”. The short answer: it depends on your skin concerns. Serums are concentrated active ingredients, which is why you don’t need a lot of it for it to work. As someone who is acne prone, I like to use serums that are packed with acne fighting actives such as salicylic acid.
The evolve salicylic acid serum uses willow bark, a natural derivative of salicylic acid to gently exfoliate the skin and dissolve the build up of oil & dirt in the pores. The lightweight texture makes this anti acne serum a dream to use! I use the evolve beauty serum every day, this helps to treat existing breakouts while preventing future ones.
Step 4: Moisturiser
A best-seller, my absolute favorite, and a product I simply cannot live without! H2O is the best lightweight moisturiser for combination skin.
Formulated with Swiss glacial water, niacinamide and squalene, this hydrating face cream is in a league of its own. The gel/cream face lotion texture nourishes the drier parts of my face while keeping the oily center balanced. In the winter, this fast-absorbing face cream is perfect for me to use morning & evening.
If my skin is feeling extra dry, I will add a drop of jojoba oil to give a surge of moisture.
Step 5: SPF
It may be winter, but sun protection is crucial all year round. While the sun may not be beaming its warm rays from the sky, you can still be exposed to its harmful rays on cloudy, gloomy autumn days. SPF is one of the most well researched ingredients and one of the few products you can confidently brand as “anti-aging”.
The nuori SPF is a lightweight, hydrating mineral sunscreen that offers no white cast and broad-spectrum sun protection. Sunscreen is staple product in my morning skincare routine, and it should be in yours too!

The key to a good morning skincare routine is keeping it minimal yet effective. Use your morning skincare routine to hydrate & protect the skin for the day ahead, then incorporate your hard hitting active ingredients in the evening to treat your skin concerns.
