Zero-waste oral care

Let's face it - we all use too much plastic. It's convenient, cheap and we got used to it, but we are already seeing the consequences of our addiction to it. Tons of plastic waste is polluting our lands, rivers, beaches, and oceans. According to Greenpeace at least 267 different animal species are known to have suffered from either entanglement or ingestion of plastic.

There was never a better time to go zero-waste, as we have so many plastic-free alternatives these days. Let's start with zero-waste dental hygiene.

1. Bamboo toothbrush

Bamboo toothbrush is a great alternative that has no disadvantages. Bamboo is the most sustainable material on earth - it grows into a giant in just a few weeks and is completely biodegradable.

It's important to brush your teeth - this is an undisputable fact. An average person uses 3-4 toothbrushes every year. 99% of them are plastic. This results in 3.6 billion plastic toothbrushes that are being used every year. Most of them end up in landfills or oceans and never break down.

But these days we don't need to buy plastic toothbrushes and add up to growing plastic problem.

Try Georganics Beech Toothbrushes, made in Germany, these soft Charcoal BPA-free nylon bristles effectively remove plaque and tartar without damaging the gums.

2. Zero-waste toothpaste

Is it even possible to create a toothpaste without plastic? Of course it is! We were very happy to find Georganics, a UK-based company producing zero-waste oral care products, including their bestselling toothpastes.

Their packaging is 100% plastic-free and instead, made of glass and aluminium. These beautiful jars are full of good ingredients too, so you and your teeth are not loosing anything switching to a zero-waste toothpaste!

Choose your favorite flavour from English Peppermint, SpearmintRed Mandarin or Activated Charcoal (for extra-white teeth).

3. Plastic-free dental floss

Have you ever thought about what is dental floss made of? Surprise, surprise - plastic. It's also coated with a petroleum-based wax, but we will leave this topic for another post...

So everytime you use a dental floss, approximately half meter of non-biodegradable plastic string ends up in your garbage. You may think it's so small, but imagine what thousands of kilometers of plastic floss in oceans can do to our planet!

Fortunately we live in the world of eco-friendly alternatives. Ta-dam, Georganics created two types of zero-waste flossvegan made of charcoal bamboo fibre and non-vegan made from silk. They are packed in a zero-waste glass container with metal dispensing lid allowing you to easily cut the floss. Try it and say goodbye to plastic!

4. Zero-waste mouthwash

We swear by Georganics Oil Pulling Mouthwash! It comes in a beautiful glass bottle which looks very elegant in the bathroom and contains 100% natural ingredients (and absolutely no alcohol) so that the whole family can use it without worries!

You can also move it to the next level and make your own DIY zero-waste mouthwash. How?

Simply mix 1/4 cup of aloe vera juice with 1 cup of water, 2 teaspoons of xylitol and 2 teaspoons of baking soda. Et voila!

We hope our post will be helpful in your zero-waste journey!

Have a lovely weekend,
