A hairdresser for more than twenty years, Frédéric Birault founded Cut by Fred in 2018. The brand makes vegan hair care organised by need: hydration, repair, scalp, volume and curls. According to the product pages, the formulas contain 97% to 100% ingredients of natural origin.
Hydration
Vegan Hydration Shampoo is a universal, almond-scented shampoo for normal to dry, natural or colour-treated hair. Vegan Hydration Conditioner is a lighter version of the mask, for daily use or fine hair; it detangles without weighing hair down. Vegan Hydration Mask, with sweet almond and plant oils, is used before shampooing or as a conditioner, and comes in a refill. In a consumer test reported by the brand, 100% of participants found their hair more hydrated after the first application.
Repair
Vegan Repair Shampoo, a gel texture, combines cationic hyaluronic acid with Protelia-R technology, a plant protein complex. Vegan Repair Mask pairs ceramides and Protelia-R with mango butter and coconut and castor oils for dry, damaged and brittle hair. Vegan Repair Cream is a daily leave-in with ceramides, cationic hyaluronic acid and mango butter; in a 28-day test supervised by hairdressers, shine increased by 29%.
Scalp care
Vegan Detox Shampoo, with a mint scent, is designed for problem scalps and fine hair. Vegan Detox Mask, a cooling gel applied at the roots, combines the prebiotic Bioecolia with the plant extract Defensclap; it reduces the appearance of dandruff. Detox Stick Shampoo is a refillable solid shampoo. Depolluting Salt Scrub, a salt scrub, replaces shampoo once a week to remove product build-up and pollution.
Volume and texture
Volume Ayurvedic Shampoo is a cleansing paste with sugar grains and coffee grounds, used up to twice a week; in a 21-day test, 91% of participants found their hair looked thicker. Vegan Volume Powder is both a volume powder and a dry shampoo; Dry Shampoo Brune is designed for light to dark brown hair. Vegan Surf Mist, with seawater and sea salt, creates waves. Blond Sun Spray, with chamomile, gradually lightens the hair.
Curls
