Innersense, hair care and styling by hair type
Founded in 2005 by salon stylists Greg and Joanne Starkman, Innersense formulates hair care by hair type: fine to medium, thick or dry, colour-treated, blonde and grey hair, and sensitive scalps. The range also includes masks, a scalp line, I Create styling products and body care.
Shampoos and conditioners
For fine to medium hair, the Pure Harmony Shampoo combines quinoa, rice extracts, shea butter and coconut and avocado oils. The silicone-free Pure Inspiration Daily Conditioner contains rice bran oil, aloe vera and orange blossom oil.
For thick, dry or coarse hair, the Hydrating Cream Shampoo brings together shea butter and avocado, sage, monoï and tamanu oils. The Hydrating Cream Conditioner, with shea butter, monoï oil and aloe vera, tames frizz.
For colour-treated hair, the Color Awakening Shampoo is sulphate-free, and the Color Radiance Daily Conditioner combines avocado oil, rice bran and shea butter. For blonde and grey hair, the Bright Balance Purple Shampoo and Bright Balance Purple Conditioner use violet pigments to neutralise yellow and brassy tones.
For sensitive scalps, the Clarity Shampoo - Hypoallergenic Shampoo and Clarity Conditioner - Hypoallergenic Conditioner are free from fragrance, essential oils, soy, gluten and lactose.
The Sweet Spirit Leave-In Conditioner, a leave-in spray, hydrates and eases detangling on all hair types.
Masks and oil
The Hydrating Hair Mask (shea butter, tamanu and coconut oils, flaxseed, quinoa) is for dry, coarse hair. The Repair Hair Mask, with hydrolysed moringa protein, vitamin C and tamanu oil, targets brittle hair. The Detox Hair Mask, with charcoal, kaolin and white vinegar, removes product build-up. The Harmonic Treatment Oil (tamanu, safflower, macadamia) can be used on hair, scalp and skin.
Scalp care: the Hair Renew line
The Hair Renew Pre Wash Treatment goes on before shampooing: zinc gluconate, magnesium oil and micro-hyaluronic acid remove build-up and hydrate. The Hair Renew Scalp Shampoo, with green coffee bean extract and pumpkin seed oil, is designed for dry scalps and reduces flaking. The Hair Renew Soothing Conditioner combines fermented willow bark, rice protein and niacinamide. In a clinical study reported by the brand (19 participants, 30 days), 82% noticed nourished hair. The Hair Renew Scalp Oil is a dry oil with sesame, sunflower and pomegranate seed oils. The True Enlightenment Scalp Scrub exfoliates the scalp with Hawaiian red salt and peppermint oil.
I Create styling
For volume, the I Create Lift Volumizing Foam is a lightweight foam, and the Styling Lotion I Create Volume contains certified organic honey and aloe vera. For curls, I Create Curl Memory is a gelée with certified organic aloe vera and bamboo extract; Styling Lotion Quiet Calm Curl Control contains certified organic shea butter, rooibos and honey; I Create Definition is a strong-hold mousse. Styling Gel I Create Hold adds definition and shine, and I Create Finish Spray holds without stiffness.
For texture, I Create Waves Spray with Himalayan pink salt creates waves, Inner Peace Whipped Crème Texturizer tames frizz and Inner Reflection Sculpting Pomade gives medium to strong hold. Hair Love Prep Spray helps protect hair from heat and UV, Serenity Smoothing Cream preps for blow-drying, and Refresh Dry Shampoo (tapioca starch, witch hazel) absorbs excess oil between washes.
Body
The body care contains Vitarevive Trio, a blend of vitamins B5, C and D. Awaken Body Wash is a shower gel with certified organic avocado oil. Renew Body Lotion contains certified organic kokum butter and pea peptides. Blissful Body Butter is based on mango seed butter, and Inner Glow Body Scrub combines sugar crystals with pomegranate and papaya enzymes.
A five-step routine
- If your scalp is dry, apply the Hair Renew treatment before shampooing.
- Wash with the shampoo for your hair type.
- Follow with the matching conditioner or a mask.
- Spray Sweet Spirit onto towel-dried hair.
- Style with an I Create product: Lift for volume, Curl Memory for curls, Finish Spray to hold.
