Abel, 100% natural eaux de parfum

Founded in Amsterdam by Frances Shoemack, Abel creates 100% natural eaux de parfum, free from petrochemical ingredients. Its fragrances fall into three families: green and fresh, floral, gourmand and amber. The house also makes two room sprays, created with French perfumer Dr Fanny Grau.

Green and fresh

Laundry Day Eau de Parfum evokes clean linen: cut grass, aldehydes and neroli, then lime, bergamot and passion fruit, over vetiver and ambroxan. Tibi Eau de Parfum opens on timut pepper and aldehydes, with a heart of yerba maté and a base of vetiver and cedarwood. Cyan Nori Eau de Parfum is a salty-sweet aquatic: tangerine, white peach, musk and nori.

Floral

Pink Iris Eau de Parfum pairs iris, rose and jasmine with Sichuan pepper, raspberry leaf and basil, over vanilla and musk. Nurture Eau de Parfum brings together orange blossom, Bulgarian rose, jasmine sambac, ginger and sandalwood. Pause Eau de Parfum is built around violet leaf, mimosa, narcissus and hay absolute. The Apartment Eau de Parfum, a limited edition, is a dark floral: tart cherry, rum, tuberose, cacao, myrrh and tolu balsam.

Gourmand and amber

Double Scoop Eau de Parfum is a milky vanilla: black sesame, butter caramel and vanilla. Cobalt Amber Eau de Parfum pairs pink pepper and juniper with a heart of cacao, Peru balsam and sandalwood, over tonka, amber and leather. Miami Split Eau de Parfum, oriental-woody, combines green banana, burnt caramel, white oud and a trio of labdanum.

For the home

Room Spray - Scene 1 - Green Tea, Yuzu, Verbena combines green tea, yuzu, grapefruit, violet leaf and vetiver. Room Spray - Scene 2 - Fig, Marigold, Cedarwood brings together fig, marigold, mandarin, basil and cedarwood. Both are formulated with 100% natural ingredients.

Formulation

The latest creations (Miami Split, Double Scoop, Tibi) are based on organic, food-grade grain alcohol. They are made without parabens, phthalates, silicones or artificial colourants, and are certified Cruelty Free by PETA. Their bottle, made in France, contains 11.5% recycled glass.

Choosing your perfume in five steps

  1. Choose a family: green, floral or gourmand.
  2. Test the fragrance on skin rather than on a paper strip.
  3. Let the perfume develop, from top notes to base notes.
  4. Compare no more than two fragrances at a time.
  5. At home, extend the mood with Scene 1 or Scene 2.

Frequently asked questions

What does 100% natural mean? The product pages state 100% natural ingredients and no petrochemical derivatives. The latest creations also specify an organic grain alcohol base.

Which fragrance should I start with? Laundry Day for a fresh clean-linen note, Pink Iris for a powdery floral, Double Scoop for a gourmand vanilla.
